What I love about fashion is that it is an art. No one outfit is deemed ‘perfect’, because it is all about what makes you feel good. – Kendra

Q: Tell us more about CollegeGirlKendra.

Kendra: I started CollegeGirlKendra.com about a year ago. Ever since I started getting compliments on my outfits in high school, I had the ideas of starting a blog but I was just unsure how. After doing my research and receiving nothing but support from family and friends, I decided to give it a go! I started CollegeGirlKendra.com to showcase my own personal style, but it has turned into so much more.

Q: What do you love about fashion ?

Kendra:  I love fashion because it’s all about what you want. No one can tell you what is right or wrong. Fashion is more than an outfit, it’s an attitude. I wear what I feel. I wear what makes me feel good.

Q: What are your current favorite fashion pieces ?

Kendra: I love my high-wasted jeans. It took me forever to find the perfect pair and I wear then every chance I can get.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration from ?

Kendra: I gather my inspiration from so many things. People inspire me.

Q: How would you describe your style ?

Kendra: I would describe my style as southern chic.

Q: What are your favorite trends ?

Kendra: I don’t think I have a favorite trend. I like to try everything!

Q: Have any exciting things coming up in the future ?

Kendra: I’m looking forward to getting another internship and starting my senior year!

Q: Where are your favorite places to shop ?

Kendra: I love to thrift shop. My favorite places to shop can range Goodwill to H&M.
Q: Any goals for 2016 ?

Kendra: My goals for 2016 are to expand my resume and grow as a blogger.

You may have seen some of her work on your explore tab on Instgram of some 90s inspired prints of classic movies and tv shows like for instance the Martin clutch bag . No wait .. the  Kid n Play one or no what about the Coming to America one ? But wait …. Who is she ? ….

Twenty six year old , Cleveland native Kashmir Thompson has been making a name herself through social media with her creative art by touching so many people and bringing the 90s back to life with her fashionable custom made unique designs and it was only right that I get the tea and learn more ! In this exclusive interview we talk business , her starting stages , and how her custom 1990 designs are making a difference in African American culture today . Read more below !

Dasia : First of all ,your work is outstanding !!! And I’m pretty sure your 21k followers on IG can agree as well . What made you start your own business ?

Kashmir : Thank you!!! I’ve literally being drawing and selling my art since probably about 2006ish. It just really started catching on recently, but I’ve always been in the business of creating and selling, all the way since high school.

Dasia : What is the meaning behind your Instagram name Kashmirviii. How did you come up with that ?

Kashmir : Well my first name (yes my real name lol) is Kashmir. Viii in Roman numbers is 8. Which is short for the brand me and my fiancé have called creviii (create).

Dasia: How old were you when you first started drawing ?

Kashmir : I’ve been drawing for as long as I could hold things. I realized I loved it around 5 and knew it was my calling around 13!

I chose to highlight the parts of my childhood that gives me the best memories.

Dasia: Where did you go to school for drawing ?

Kashmir : I attended the Cleveland school of the arts from 8th grade until I graduated high school where I majored in visual art and photography .

Dasia : Lets talk about to the beginning stages of Creviii . What was it like dealing with any obstacles that you may have had ?

Kashmir : Honestly, I didn’t deal with too many obstacles starting [out] . All of my obstacles are new because as my brand grows, so do my problems. I just try to take things one day at a time and stay focused and work diligently to eliminate problems for myself. I try not to make more obstacles than I already have by paying attention to detail and not taking on more work than I can bare.

Dasia : Was there anything or anyone that inspired you to start drawing ?

Kashmir : My dad was a big inspiration. He was very creative and eclectic. My stepdad could also draw and paint really well and was a big inspiration during my teen years .

I wrote a lot of poetry in high school and won tons of poetry slams and speech contests .

Dasia : I love that your brand focuses spefically on the 90s characters from films and tv shows . It’s very organic and unique . Your most famous ” You so crazy ” clutch bag inspired by one of the best television shows and one of my favorites , Martin went viral.  How did you come up with these ideas for your line .
Kashmir :  I came up with these ideas by really focusing on what made me happy as a kid…and that was Martin and shows like Martin. I chose to highlight the parts of my childhood that gives me the best memories.

( Kashmir meeting Tisha Campbell Martin  aka Gina from Martin at Bossip event )
Dasia : Other then the clutch bags, do you sell any other items with similar prints ?

Kashmir : Yes!  I also sale tees, prints and posters, coasters, tote bags and more!

Dasia : Who are favorite artists and why ?

Kashmir : My favorite artists are Keturah Ariel, Frida Kahlo, Kehinde Wiley and Romare Bearden to name a few! They all are amazing artists with very unique and distinctive styles

Dasia : What are some fun facts your followers dont know about you ?

Kashmir : Hmm. One fun fact is I wrote and illustrated a short story at the age of 7 that the Cleveland municipal school district published! Another fun fact is that I originally wanted to be a writer growing up. I wrote a lot of poetry in high school and won tons of poetry slams and speech contests .
Dasia : What do you plan to do in the next 5 years ?

( Tasha Smith with Coming to America clutch bag )

Kashmir : The next 5 years I hope to be a household name! I want to be doing exactly what I’m doing now, just on a much larger scale
Dasia : What advice can you give aspiring artists, designers or entrepreneurs who wants to start their own business ?

Kashmir : Don’t give up on it if it’s something you want to do! Read up about branding and management and make your business appealing!

Make sure to check out Kashmir’s store for more 90s inspired bags, tees , and more at www.kashmirviii.com

Instagram is the best app for photography and expressing yourself but when u have a specific aethetic or theme on your account , it makes it even more better . Twenty two year old finnish fashion student Milla Tawast orginally from Finland , currently living in France talks to us about having a perfect minimalist theme for her Instagram account and how she incorporates fashion and style . Read more below !

Q: When did you know you had a passion for fashion ?

Milla : Ever since I can remember. When I was a little girl I loved dressing my barbies and my dolls and I used to even sew some clothes for them. I also liked to pick out my own clothes from the kids fashion catalogues.
Q: How does fashion inspire you ?

Milla : Fashion inspires me a lot because I am a very visual person. I love how dressing a certain way can make you feel different. I also love how you can communicate through fashion and express things about yourself without saying a word.

Q: What / Who inspires your style ? How would you describe yours ?

Milla : So many people! I love browsing outfit pictures on Instagram, lookbook and fashion blogs or just looking at peoples’ outfits in the streets. This is a rough one. My style has varied a lot through the years but I think I’m starting to find the style that I feel most myself in. I like to keep it pretty simple and minimal with muted tones and basic pieces and to add a little bit of interest to the outfit with textures and shapes.
Q: What is is like being from Finland ?

Milla : Cold mostly, haha. No even though the climate might not be the best for a sun lover like me , Finland is very dear to me of course because it is my homeland. And opposite to the cold and dark winters we have summers with lots of light, in the midsummer the sun never sets!

I am a student in the garment industry. My dearest hobbies are fashion, sewing, drawing and traveling.

Q: Since moving to France , how does their culture inspire you fashion wise ?

Milla : I think French people are very stylish and dress really well so it inspires me to just look at the people in the streets. I especially like the color palette that is more earthy tones than I’m used to seeing in Finland.

Q: What are some tips to taking great outfit pictures ?

Milla : In outfit pictures the background is almost as important as the outfit, a more simple  background lets the outfit shine through when a really busy background can drown the outfit in. Daylight is also pretty essential and of course the golden hour does miracles for the tones of the picture.

Q: What is they key to having a perfect Instagram aesthetic ?

Milla : Taking pictures of things with the same kind of style and color and editing all your pictures the same way to make the pictures blend in together. For example if you like the white theme you got to make sure to take bright and white pictures.

Q: Favorite places to shop ?

Milla : I love to shop at thrift shops because you can make cheap and unique finds there and with a student budget. I also like to alter the clothes a lot to either make them fit better or have a different style.

Q:  What are your fashion favorites for spring ?

Milla : I love ripped denim for the spring and summer, it’s also fun to do yourself to give a new style for a denim piece. I also can’t wait to take out my light trench coats and strappy sandals!

Q: What some of your goals for 2016 ?

Milla : My goal for 2016 is to get better at what I do, the full process of designing and manufacturing clothes. It is my biggest passion and something that I hope to make a long career out of.

We had the opportunity to talk fashion with owner Quiana Milam of Clarksville, TN ,34,  of the online lifestyle brand KreamINC , which is a shopping platform for men and women to shop trendy clothes , backpacks and other great items . Quiana gives us the tea behind of the scenes  of how Kream started and how hard it is being a business owner . Check out our convo below !

Q: What exactly do you love about fashion?

Quiana : It’s forever evolving and repeating itself. It’s beautiful that you can reinvent yourself everyday that you step out of your closet.

Q: So tell us about how your online store Kream started and primarily what it’s about ?

Quiana : [ My husband and I ] We opened our store officially in July, 2015. We originally were going to sell women’s shoes and men’s hats because those items had a quick turn around rate and quick turnover time. But about a month after launching, we started realizing that our website was getting hits and the key searches were women looking for tops, sunglasses, etc.

That was the deciding factor in us expanding our product lines. We provide an online shopping platform for men and women. We sell pieces that we love. We are stockists for Sprayground backpacks and duffles which is so exciting since we are the only official carrier in Tennessee.

Q: Where are your favorite places to shop ?

Quiana : KreamInc.com of course. I am huge thrift shopper and my husband is the guy that buys Js every Saturday.

Q: What are your favorite trends ?

Quiana : Mixed prints. Mismatching but coordinating colors. Monochromatic. Gawty accessories!

Q: How did you guys come up with the name Kream ?

Quiana : The name Kream originally began with friends, family, and associates referring to my husband and I as the “Hustle Couple”. We USUALLY know where to get whatever you are looking for, who has it, or we can get it for you. In addition, we are ALWAYS looking for ways to invest our money and make it grow.

Q: What are your favorite fashion pieces?

Quiana : Skinny jeans, pencil skirts, HEELS! HEELS! and more HEELS! clutches

Q:What/Who inspires you ?

Quiana :  Shaniqua J., Kyrzayda, Anaya Ivy, Iris Apfel

Q: How would you describe your style for KreamINC  ?

Quiana : Fun. Bright. Unapologetic.

Q: How difficult is it being a business owner ?

Quiana : Being a business owner is hard and rewarding at the same damn time!!! It’s nice to to be in control of your schedule for the most part, being able to decide how much money you are going to make, and most importantly building relationships with so many unique individuals in business and personally.

The downside is having clients who you will never please no matter what you do or offer, SHIPPING no matter the courier, and being self funded so I can’t wear or have EVERYTHING that we sell! I’m a clothes whore!

Q: Do you have any exciting things coming up in the future for Kream ?

Quiana : Increase brand awareness. Become more accessible to our clients. Open a brick and mortar in the fall. We will be setting up at a lot of events this summer and we are setting up our first pop-up shop next month .

I caught up with fashion blogger , Tiffany aka Fannyphx and she is the true definition of a fashion- killer . Her style influences so many people in the fashion community with her creative outfit of the day photos and her colorful backgrounds .  In this interview we talk style, photography and how to manage being mom and fashion blogger . Check out our talk below !

FullSizeRender (8)
Dasia : When did you start your blogging journey ?

Tiffany : Oh gosh, I started when I was a senior in highschool when Myspace was still the main social outlet (tbt!) and I tried my hand at youtube but I had a horrible webcam so I stuck to taking OOTD pics and have been doing that on and off for several years now.

Dasia :  What is the back story of your name “fannyphx ”  ?

Tiffany : I was actually made fun of in middle school for having a big butt (yet everyone loves big booties now LOL) and so people used to jokingly call me bubble butt and big booty fanny and for some reason fanny just stuck and something that started out as a joke became my nickname – my actual name is Tiffany so I guess it kind of goes with that too!

Dasia :  Your style is like no other ! What or who inspires your look ?

Tiffany : I would say just a mixture of people – Honestly, I don’t think I’ve found my ‘me’ look yet I think I’m still trying to find who I am as a person and personal style goes along with that. I get inspiration from everything – art, food, friends, family, and of course other bloggers and stylists.

FullSizeRender (3)

Dasia: Where are your go to favorite places to shop ?

Tiffany : Come onnnnnnn, the thrift store!!! 😉 But if I had to go commercial I would say H&M, Zara, Asos, Forever 21 and LuLus.

Dasia:  How would you describe your style ?

Tiffany : I would say I’m Thrifty/Sporty/Chic – idk if that’s a thing lol

Dasia: What are your current favorite trends ?

Tiffany: I’m definitely loving neutrals and monochromatic looks that’s in right now – I have always been in to Olive so it’s nice that it’s finally getting so much love!

Dasia:  You have 14k active supporters who are inspired by your style ! How do you feel about that ?

Tiffany : It’s crazy ! I just hope I’m not boring everyone with the white background but EVERYONE does outside pics and I really just wanted to bring something different. Trust me, sometimes I want to take it outside too but I just can’t. I hope that people enjoy my pics and when they come to my page they’re like, ‘this is different’.

FullSizeRender (6)

Dasia: Not only are you a style influencer , you’re also a mommy !  What is it like being a blogger and mother ? Is blogging your full time job besides being a mom ?

Tiffany: It’s intense,  I work from home as well so throw that in with blogging and taking care of an almost 2 year old, it’s a whirlwind sometimes lol I just try to make a schedule for things and I usually take photos when she’s napping or after she’s gone to sleep for the day. Otherwise she would be all up in my pics or touching equipment and clothes in the studio and both me and her dad would go crazy!

Dasia: Lol , Have you faced any obstacles being a mom ?

Tiffany: Definitely, I mean being a parent is HARD. Not only do you constantly second guess yourself because you’re not sure if you’re doing things right or wrong or good enough but at the end of the day as long as my daughter is healthy and happy then I feel like, ‘okay, maybe you’re not as horrible as you think you are.’ I feel like on the outside looking in to any person who has kids, you think they have everything together but honestly it’s a mess and we’re just trying to keep our head above water.

Dasia:  I absolutely love your pictures ! They’re very high quality and clean with the different color backgrounds . Where do you take them ?

Tiffany: We have a photo studio in our house – both me and my bf are in creative fields so it really works for us!

FullSizeRender (7)

Dasia:  What are some tips for someone who wants to start a blog or become a fashion blogger ?

Tiffany :  I would say the biggest tip is to always be true to yourself and that will show through your photos and your personality online. Don’t do or wear something just because other bloggers are because that usually doesn’t translate well if it’s not really YOU.

Dasia: What are you goals for 2016 ? Where do you see yourself in 5 years ?

Tiffany : My goal is to just continue to grow as a person and as a mother! I just want to be happy and healthy and live life to the fullest 🙂 I’m not 100% sure yet! I’ve learned to live in the moment and take things as they come.

Today’s Fxshnjunke Spotlight goes to 21 year old Ricardo J. Louís from Brooklyn, NY. We admired his dope style with his high quality pictures via his Instagram account and wanted to know more ! Check out our convo below !

I love street fashion, & how confident you are when you look good. I’m extremely passionate about hip-hop & everything it stands for!

Q: Do you consider yourself a male fashion influencer ?

Ricardo : I think if someone put me in that category I wouldn’t argue it. I would say if someone wasn’t comfortable with what they were wearing, I’d definitely help them out & fit them to their expectations.

Q: What/ who inspires your style ?

Ricardo : My inspirations vary worldwide, the usual Kanye of course. Then you’d have to throw A$AP Rocky in there, but then it goes onto Pharrell, Fabolous, Kendrick Lamar & any hip-hop street wear from the 90s.

Q: When did you become an advocate of street style fashion ?

Ricardo : I’ve always loved street fashion, I never had money for that high end fashion so I used to design the hammy downs I had & made it look vintage.

Q: Where are some of your go to places to shop ?

Ricardo : H&M, KithNYC, Supreme, Urban Outfitters, & FearOfGod are my top spots!

Q: When did you become interested in photography ? What motivated you ?

Ricardo : The birth of my nephew for sure, I was in a dark place for awhile before his birth & he basically put everything in perspective for me. Wanted to do better! My partner actually persuaded me to do it, he’s my co-founder of the brand we’re trying to create. He told me I should try it & now it’s my baseline for my entire career. I’m majoring in photojournalism now!

Q: Your pictures are so dope ! What camera do you use ?

Ricardo : I don’t have a camera at the moment, I’m actually working with my co-founders sister & she’s taking the pictures. it’s a Canon 5d Mark II w/ a 50 mm lense.

Q: What are some fashion tips for young men like yourself who wants to upgrade their style ?

Ricardo :  I would say just go with your gut, even if it may look unorthodox, sometimes weird is dope, I tend to throw things on top of each other & live with the results.

Q: What do you have in store for 2016 ?

Ricardo : My end goal before 2017 is for my brand to be known, for me to be on the top of highsnobiety list. To travel to as many places as I can, meet more fashion enthusiasts. Continue to build towards moving to NY & getting my AA before the summer of 2017.

Today’s Fxshnjunke Spotlight goes to image consultant and wardrobe stylist  Keisha Dunbar from North Carolina . The flame for fashion didn’t really spark until Keisha’s sophomore year in high school when she took a sewing course. She quickly developed a passion for different fabrics and textile during the class; it was as if she had a natural talent. So it was no surprise when she relished in the opportunity to design and make her own prom dress.

It’s deeper than mere outfits and trends , It’s an expression of all the eccentricities that make up the person.

After graduating high school, Keisha attended North Carolina A&T University for Fashion Design and Manufacturing. However, during her sophomore year of college, life had other plans, so she stopped attending college and started working in Corporate America.

It wouldn’t be until 7 years (and many trials and tribulations!) later that Keisha’s fashion pursuits would resume. “I think Grandmother’s passing in 2012 is what inspired me to go after my dream,” she says. “I know she would have wanted to see me pursuing what I love, so it kind of made sense.”

Keisha began going to different stores and networking with different people in order to expand her horizons on the Fashion Industry. She began researching and designing random pieces of her own clothing at home in her spare time. She also got heavily involved in the church and her community as an apart of Precious Outreach Ministry. “I’ve always enjoyed helping others,” she states.

In 2015, Keisha came across an online course in Image Consulting through IAP Career College. She quickly enrolled and completed the course, all while envisioning a business plan. “My natural love is for people and my passion is fashion, I love helping others and giving my advice. Becoming a Certified Image Consultant is the perfect combination of the two.”

Keisha launched LattieMoore Style and Image Consulting in June 2015, named after her late grandmother. The purpose of LattieMoore is to inspire Women to look, be and feel the part with confidence. “It’s still in the early stages, but I already see the fruits of it,” she says. “It’s satisfying to see it actually come into fruition. I’m beyond thrilled!”

“It’s about being Funky and Fabulous and not being afraid to let your identity be known through what and how you wear your clothes. It’s also Confidence and loving the skin you’re in,” she says. “I don’t think that will ever fade.”
