“WHEN I MOVED TO LONDON MY FASHION SENSE CHANGED ALOT” *FXSHNJUNKE SPOTLIGHT* FT SONIA ROYY

Today’s Fxshnjunke Spotlight features 21 year old Nigerian bred blogger and London native , Sonia Royy. We loved her sense of fashion and of course we wanted to get an inside look at what her favorites are ! In this interview she gives us tips on blogging, some of her favorite places to shop in London , her 2017 goals and more !

Dasia: Tell me something about yourself ?

Sonia: I’m  originally from Nigeria but I’m French by nationality, and i have been living  in London for the past 8-9 years now. I’m a very fun and outgoing person, i can also be loud too. I love food (yes, I do lol), especially Nigerian food and French cuisine. I also love love love music and of course fashion.

Dasia: What do you like about fashion?

Sonia: I love fashion because it helps me express myself and I feel like it helps you explore the world in a more colourful way. With fashion, I can be myself. I am a shy person, but fashion helps me bring out my confidence.

Dasia: What/who inspires your style?

Sonia: I will say Rihanna, her style inspires me a lot, I also feel like Rihanna tries everything. I mean her style is very diverse. She does not wear the same type of outfits and she also experiments with her fashion. You know fashion is all about exploring and I think that’s what Rihanna does. She makes it fun, which I also find very intriguing. Whenever you see  Rihanna, she always has a different hairstyle, and her outfits always break the social rules. Me personally I get bored easily, especially with fashion, but with Rihanna there is no dull moment with her fashion.

Dasia: Favorite fashion brand(s)?

Sonia: My favourite fashion brands are LV, Moschino, Givenchy, Channel, YSL, Dior, D&G, Valentino, Versace and Vera Wang.

Dasia : Where are your favourite places to shop online?

Sonia : Firstly, I want to start by saying I love shopping online, it’s like the best thing ever. I normally don’t shop in person because of my busy schedule and all that but some of my favourite online shops are Boohoo, Pretty Little Things, Misguided, M.A.D-Kollection, Famossa and Asos.

Dasia : Oouuuuu , I def gotta check out M.A.D Kollection and Famossa ! How did you get into blogging

Sonia : My friends convinced me to do it lol. I always had a passion for fashion , so that kind of also encouraged me to start a blog.

Dasia :  For beginner bloggers, what kind of cameras do you recommend?

Sonia : I would personally recommend the Sony a5100 camera. It’s really easy to use, its small so its easy to carry around, you can put it on a tripod or use the flip screen monitor to take really good selfies.

Dasia : What do you think are some key tips on starting a blog and being successful?

Sonia : One of the key tip on starting a successful blog is consistency. I mean it’s very important for a blogger to be consistent and I think that’s what we as bloggers suffer from. I mean it’s hard, but I will say consistency and hard work is the key to being a successful blogger.

Dasia :  If you could collaborate with any celebrity, blogger, stylist, etc. who would it be and why?

Sonia : I would L O V E to collaborate with Rihanna! She is such a fashion icon to me (and of course i love her music), I feel like we have a similar kind of fashion sense, we could create some amazing designs together. When it comes to bloggers, its a very very long list of lol, but ( Shayla Greene, ,Sherlinan Nym, and Ashleigh ) are who I would love to work with Just to name a few.

Dasia : What are some things that keeps you motivated?

Sonia : My love for fashion is my motivation,  and  my supporters, that’s the reason I do this.

Dasia : How has being from one of the top leading fashion cities in the world (London) inspired you?

Sonia : London has really inspired my fashion sense I must say. I grew up in Paris, which is known for its iconic fashion industry, so that gave me a taste into the world of fashion. But when I moved to  London my fashion sense changed a lot, I would say it blossomed. I mean the fashion over here in London is more daring, people aren’t afraid to be themselves and let their creativity shine, i also noticed the people here are more open to colours and experimenting with them which i didn’t see much in Paris. So yeah London has inspired my fashion sense a lot.

Dasia : For someone who is visiting London for the first time, where do you recommend shopping? Restaurants? Landmarks?

Sonia : I think there are a lot of places to shop and dine at in London but the shops that I would reccomend are: Zara, New look, Miss Selfridge, Aldo, Top Shop, River Island and Mango. Some of the restaurants I will recommend are TGIF, Tinsel Town, Nando’s, Zizi, Bill’s Muswell Hill Restaurant, Wagamama and Phoenix in Victoria.

Dasia : Have you heard of Fxshnjunke before? If so, how did you find out about it, if not, what do you think about it?

Sonia : Yes I have heard about Fxshnjuke before, I have been a fan of the blog for the longest time. I love their website because they help you stay connected with other bloggers and they also keep you updates on  fashion feeds worldwide.

Dasia : What are some of your goals you would like to accomplish in 2017?

Sonia : Well for 2017 I’ve got some goals already set out, which I’m working on achieving. In 2017, I would love to do my first collaboration with another blogger, so i can expand my network and build friendships. I would also love to work with other fashion designers too so i can get more of my style out there for my supporters to see. Right now I’m in my final year of university, I’m currently doing a degree in Psychology with Counselling skills, its been a huge goal of mine and it hasn’t been the easiest journey but i look forward to finishing my studies and graduating in 2017.

Dasia : Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Sonia : Five years from now I see myself living my dream as a young, successful, full-time blogger + YouTuber and Fashion Designer 🙂
